I have a 4 years old son who really choosy and always feel full (with, I don't know what). Maybe because he have small stomach (that is what people told me). So, these are some tips to share with all of you to encourage your kid to eat at least his main meal.
1) Make sure he do his kinetic activities (cycling, running, playing (outdoor & indoor).
2) Make sure he have his option to eat. As my son is 4 years old, I always asked him (what you like to have today for dinner?)
3) Add on what ever you think the best for him to have with his choosen dish.
4) Tell him " I have made your favourite for you, but I still need you to eat this one (your choice) also. Because if you eat only this one (his choice) without this (your choice), i shall not allowed you to watch your fav cartoon tomorrow.
5) make sure you did not allowed him to watch tomorrow. and remind him that is because you did not finished your meal yesterday. (It works for my kid).
6) Make sure if he really dont want to eat anything that you cook. Ask him what he wants for his snacks (even though it is not healthy, at least he eat something).
7) Taking a Lysine for boosting his appetite; not working for my son. i dont know why, he will be a nit warm (close to fever) if he tool any Lysine supplement.- So, I stop it.
8) I only focused giving him prime food not a seconder food like sausages, nuggets and baked beans from the can. i choose to give him rice, chicken, fish, carrots, fresh green vege. (Thank God he love all types of vege).
9) The best full meal he will take is because when he around with other peer kid. Since he is the only kid at home, I always bring him to his cousin's house or hypermarket cafeteria to feed him with full meal. (esp during weekend).
10) He love fruits. So I give him a lot of fruits for him to try. It really make him wants to eat more meal dish after having his fruits portion.
